Can you answer YES to any of the following questions?

  • Are you tired of purchasing huge lots of integrated circuits (ICs) only to find out that you've been ripped off and that all of those ICs are counterfeit?
  • Are you tired of spending time and money on expensive, outsourced anti-counterfeit testing?
  • Are you interested in safeguarding your business against ever-increasing IC counterfeit fraud?
  • Would you like to be able to perform the counterfeit testing yourself; in your own facility?

If you answered YES to any of those questions,
you need a JetEtch decapsulation system!

How do you know whether these chips are legitimate?

You must decapsulate them!

The Facts about Counterfeit ICs:

  • Counterfeit electronics originating in China accounted for $1 billion to $10 billion in lost global sales in 2002
  • For each $1 billion in counterfeit electronics in China, between $300 and $400 million consists of ICs. That's 30% to 40%!
  • In 2002, US Customs Service intercepted only about $10 million in fake electronics. This means that they only prevented about $3 million to $4 million in ICs. In other words, well over $300 million in ICs made it to US shores - and therefore into your warehouse - completely undetected!
  • Counterfeit ICs cost your business time and money
  • Distribution of counterfeit ICs will lose customers' faith and trust in your product

What You can do to Protect Yourself:

  • You must have an adequate system for early counterfeit detection
  • You must have the ability to test your parts immediately and/or before the entire lot is shipped in order to choose whether to accept the ICs from your supplier
  • You must have the ability to test your parts immediately in order not to lose a sale to a potential client
  • Have all your testing equipment on hand so testing can be completed same day
  • Do not waste your time and money outsourcing the delidding work
  • Buy yourself a JetEtch!

Testimonials:

"My extensive research for the best equipment available to do decapsulation of electronic components led me to the Nisene Technology Group time and again. Nisene's fully automated JetEtch II system was exactly what SMT's Quality Control department was looking for in a safe, easy-to-use and self-contained unit. This equipment allows us to quickly and cleanly expose the die for absolute component verification.

At the time of our purchase in 2007, the "Lab in a Box" product offering was not yet available from Nisene. This comprehensive group of accessory items includes all additional required safety and chemical handling products that we ended up researching and buying from 3 additional vendors. SMT is currently considering the purchase of an additional JetEtch II system — this time it will be one-stop-shopping with Nisene's "Lab in a Box" product — it will save time AND money."

"North Shore Components recently purchased the JetEtch automated acid decapsulator, which significantly enhances our counterfeit component detection capabilities. We have found your system and your software to be easy-to-use and highly intuitive, and the service and support behind this product has been outstanding. We highly recommend the Nisene JetEtch automated acid decapsulator to anyone looking to prevent counterfeit components from entering the supply chain."

A word about the counterfeit chip industry from Erik Jordan:

From the standpoint of making the counterfeiting that is happening in China harder, we are doing a good thing. If these criminal groups in China find this counterfeit market to be "not as profitable" they will be forced to move on to other illegal methods of making money.

Our equipment is making it harder for these criminal establishments to sell these parts and get away with it. The problem I am hearing from companies is that without testing the parts they can't always spot the counterfeits. If the counterfeit market finds out that companies are becoming more and more proficient in testing then the counterfeit market diminishes.

If you make a simple tally of "Good Guys" vs. "Bad Guys" then our equipment adds power to the "Good Guys."

When watching this video, I see the conditions of China's (and it reminds me of the emerging India) counterfeit ring. Our decap system is doing its best to fight this counterfeit ring.

One problem we face is that U.S. companies, small and large, are contributing to the worldwide counterfeit problem. In a way, the counterfeit market is similar to the drug market. You have the big companies that are the kingpin suppliers and then you have the small-time companies with little or no protection that sell the product to the masses. U.S. companies buy these components (by mistake or intentionally) from the smaller companies and then install them in their products. That is how they end up in our gaming systems, TVs, cell phones, and all the way up to military tanks and aircrafts.

Unfortunately, until the U.S. takes a proactive approach in stopping its own companies from shipping these components, the problem will continue. Until something is done to prevent this e-waste from turning into counterfeit components, we will be working diligently to equip any and all companies with our equipment to protect themselves.

I think it was about time a major company did a documentary on this to exploit counterfeiting for what it is. It's not just companies being ripped off, it's people's lives being taken, our environment being destroyed, and consumer wallets being hurt.
